Mabon is the Autumn Equinox, is the completion of the harvest begun at Lughnasadh. Once again day and night are equal, as the God prepares to leave His physical body and begin his journey towards rebirth of the Goddess. Nature declines, draws back it's bounty, readying for winter and its time to rest. The Goddess nods in the weakening Sun, and feels the presence of the God as He wanes and awaits his rebirth.
This sabbat is the best time of the year for outward turning magic, that which draws from forces and affect forces which lie outside of ourselves. Spells which turn upon inner forces and mostly affect ourselves become increasingly important as the dark half of the year grows in power. Rituals for protection, prosperity, security, self-confidence, harmony and balance are appropriate during this time.
